Stipendium Hungaricum

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program was created by the Hungarian government to advance the internationalization of its higher education and to draw exceptional foreign students from all corners of the globe, who can establish meaningful personal and professional connections to Hungary while receiving a top-tier education in the heart of Europe.

The program is built on bilateral education agreements between Hungary and the sending countries’ governments and is presently available in nearly 90 countries and territories across five continents, attracting over 5000 international students every year. The program offers more than 600 full degree programs across all fields and degree levels, including part-time and doctoral programs.

The Stipendium Hungaricum program offers opportunities not only for prospective international students but also for current self-financed or fee-paying students of a Hungarian higher education institution. Those who are applying for the same level of study, they must be recommended by their Hungarian host universities where they are studying at the time of application and must be registered at the time of the application deadline.

Provisions Covered By The Scholarship :

  • Monthly stipend – non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and one-tier master’s level: monthly amount of HUF 43.700 contribution to the living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies
  • Accommodation contribution – free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period (Please note that if the student does not live in the dormitory, the HUF 40,000/month is a contribution to that rental costs, and in bigger cities – especially in the capital city – this contribution would not cover the full amount of rental costs.)

Erasmus +

Erasmus+ is one of the European Union’s most successful and popular programs, offering students the opportunity to participate in academic or professional mobility programs lasting 1-2 semesters. Within the Erasmus+ framework, students can choose to participate in Student Mobility for Studies (SMS) or Student Mobility of Placement (SMP) programs, which allow them to study at a foreign higher education institution for 3-12 months or gain work experience through an internship lasting 2-12 months in another European country. Additionally, these two activities can be combined.

One of the significant benefits of the Erasmus+ program is the financial support it offers to eligible participants. The amount of the grant varies depending on the target country, with partial studies offering between 470-520 Euros per month, while internships offer between 570-620 Euros per month in Erasmus+ countries. Socially disadvantaged students can also receive additional funding, with 200 Euros available for Student Mobility for Studies and 100 Euros available for Mobility of Placement.
