Programme Introduction
The Health Care Management master’s program at Széchenyi István University (SzEU) aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in various levels of management across a wide range of healthcare organizations. It covers several key topics and essential managerial skills, with a strong focus on innovation.
Structure of studies
The programme consists of 4 semesters: between September and December and between February and May. The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 120 credits (104 credits by compulsory and elective courses, 16 credits by thesis courses and internship). 1 credit equals one ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.
Language requirements of the course
- TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 (issued in the last two years).
- Certificate of any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Master’s level issued by an accredited language centre/ academic institution.
- In case the student has completed his/her previous level of studies in English, proof can be uploaded about the fact that the language of instruction was English, issued by the institution.
- If the uploaded document(s) do(es) not meet the above-mentioned requirements, the University relies on an online language interview.
Academic requirements of the course
Completed and signed application form, copy of your passport, notarized copy of Bachelor’s degree relevant* to the Master’s studies, notarized copy of the Transcript of Records, notarized copy of your language certificate, recent photograph, Curriculum Vitae (resumé) in English, Motivational Letter in English, Academic Reference letter in English (Issued by your former academic institution/teacher).
*Economics BSc., Marketing BSc., Business Administration MBA, Public Administration MSc., Finance or Accounting MSc., Health Care Management BSc., Sociology BSc., Law and Political Sciences, Nursing BSc., Medical Doctor (MD), Pharmacist. Applicants with other types of BA/BSc degrees can also apply, but will have to fulfil some additional requirements.
Job opportunities
With the ongoing expansion of the health industry in Europe and most parts of the world, numerous job opportunities exist beyond direct management roles in large or medium-sized healthcare organizations. Graduates will also possess the skills and knowledge to work in middle management or their own small enterprises. Additionally, there are opportunities within various sectors of the health industry, such as health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, trading firms, medical device or IT-ICT companies. Another career path includes public administration (e.g., health funds, ministries, health authorities) or roles in international NGOs. The degree obtained is recognized as equivalent within the European Union.
