Programme Introduction
The aim of the RIPPL Master of Photography programme is to create an interactive and creative workshop supporting individual creative ambitions. In addition to the training of perspectives, we believe it is important to develop the creative personality and to maintain a critical approach to the use of media. We believe that photography is one of the most sensitive sensors of the changes in our environment, reflecting the changes around us in the most complex way based on a technical, technological, cultural, social and creative point of view. It is the basis of all visual, media applied and autonomous forms of expression. The future of visuality is now best approached through the development of large-scale delivery systems. The infrastructure of the information society is all around us, and the greatest question is how we can be part of this mechanism, which is an extended social and artistic circulation where our knowledge, combined with that of others, can create new values. Therefore, our students do not only treat the different photographic genres and media surfaces as a problem of image-making, but also think in terms of communication and information structures. Individual opportunities and the ways of perception have multipled by now. Photography covers a wide range and territory. In our interdisciplinary creative workshop, which is specifically photographic-based, the most striking feature is that our students think in terms of a system of media and see photography as a means of self-expression.
Structure of studies
4 semesters = 120 credits
Language requirements of the course
Accepted proof of proficiency: FCE or CAE, IELTS 6+ or TOEFL 79+
Certificate of secondary education accomplished in English may also be taken into account.
Bachelor’s degrees from English-speaking countries are also acceptable.
Applicants need to present an official (duly signed and stamped) justification that the medium of instruction for the applicant’s entire study programme was English.
Academic requirements of the course

The MA in Photography has a practical exam. The practical exam requires the submission of an application electronically.
Content of the application:
- a CV, a motivation essay with an indication of the candidate’s creative goals, an electronic extract from the candidate’s transcript and an electronic version of the portfolio of professional work.
- The practical test will consist of an online interview with the candidate, during which an electronic version of the candidate’s portfolio will be presented.
- There are no specific requirements as to the content or format of the portfolio.
- Professional experience will be an advantage in the assessment.
- BA / Bsc degree, having experiences in visual arts proven by a submitted portfolio, motivation letter, successful matriculation process, min. B2 level of English. The minimum number of credits required for admission to the Master’s programme is 60 credits in the fields of art, theory of photography, professional competences in photography, humanities and social sciences, economics, philosophy and law, media studies, communication and presentation skills, entrepreneurship.
- To be admitted to the Master’s programme, students must have obtained at least 30 credits in the areas listed above, based on their bachelor’s degree. The missing credits must be acquired in accordance with the study and examination regulations of the higher education institution. Credit recognition procedure required.
