Programme Introduction

The MSc in Motorsport Engineering programme – offered by the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering at Széchenyi University in Győr, Hungary – aims to provide state-of-the-art practice-oriented know-how in the field of race vehicle design, testing and operation. The aim of the programme is to train students to become technically advanced motorsport engineers with a deep understanding of the fundamental scientific and engineering principles used in motorsport, as well as their application within a high performance technology environment. Using their acquired knowledge, motorsport engineers will be able to contribute to the design, development, manufacturing and testing of race vehicles, race engines and their components.  The language of this MSc programme is English. As the programme is project-oriented, students participate will be required to complete individual- or group-based projects for each course. This enables students to acquire skills necessary to work, cooperate, or to lead projects at international level.

Structure of studies

The programme is 1-year long and consists of 12 courses organized in 6 modules. Each module is 5 weeks long, during which 2 courses are covered in an intensive, project-based educational form. This means that each course starts with the assignment of a Course-Related Project, followed by Lectures covering the theoretical background of the course as well as Tutorials and Consultations, where the know-how needed for the practical implementation of the theory as well for solving the Project are imparted to the students. The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 60 credits. 1 credit equals 1 ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.

Language requirements of the course

  • TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 (issued in the last two years).
  • Certificate of any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Master’s level issued by an accredited language centre/ academic institution.
  • In case the student has completed his/her previous level of studies in English, proof can be uploaded about the fact that the language of instruction was English, issued by the institution.
  • If the uploaded document(s) do(es) not meet the above-mentioned requirements, the University relies on an online language interview.

Academic requirements of the course

Completed and signed application form, copy of your passport, notarized copy of Bachelor’s degree relevant* to the Master’s studies, notarized copy of the Transcript of Records, notarized copy of your language certificate, recent photograph, Curriculum Vitae (resumé) in English, Motivational Letter in English, Academic Reference letter in English (Issued by your former academic institution/teacher)

Minimal requirement is a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (CGPA) of 75% or 3.00 GPA on a 4 point scale

Completed BSc studies until the start of the program (February of each year)

* BA/BSc degrees in Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering and Engineering Information Technology. Applicants with other types of BA/BSc degrees can also apply, but will have to fulfil some additional requirements.

Additional requirements

Applicants shall participate in an online test, which is an approximately 2-hour-long multiple-choice test about fundamental engineering knowledge and problem solutions skills, e.g. Statics, Kinematics, Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, etc. Students passing this test successfully will be invited to the last step of the application process, an online interview with the programme leads, where further skills will be verified.
