Programme Introduction

This program is for you if you are interested in film and media, your way of thinking is creative and original, and you would like to develop your skills on a high level. You can acquire comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of motion picture and media. During the program, you will get a general picture of the theoretical and practical opportunities of filmmaking and an insight into certain sections of the profession. By the end of the program, you will have secure theoretical and practical knowledge about the features of visual communication, and you will be able to create films and media productions. Due to the extensive practical training, you will surely find the area which is the closest to your personality and interests.

Training overview

  • 1st Year – Basic Studies of Filmmaking: Film history, writing, directing, camera and lighting, editing, and sound courses focusing on photography, documentation, documentaries, and visual storytelling: experimental and short fictions.
  • 2nd Year – Storytelling: Fiction scenes and feature films with a focus on working with actors. You will have the opportunity to engage in one- or multi-camera shootings in studios, creating short scenes and short fiction films based on your scripts and adaptations developed during dramaturgical courses. This year will enhance your directing, camera, editing, writing, sound design, production management, and producer skills.
  • 3rd Year – Preparing for Diploma Works: Focus on practical courses: writing, directing, editing, sound, music, producing tasks, preparation for presentations, and pitches at international platforms.

Intermediate command of English (IELTS 5.5+ or TOEFL 69+ level, but no certificate required)

Required documents

  • Portfolio which must contain all of the following:

    • An unlisted or public Youtube or Vimeo link (without a password) to a self-presentation film (no longer than two minutes) and a photo collection about yourself.
    • An unlisted or public Youtube or Vimeo link without password to a film which is one of your previous works (please give a short description of the project and specify your task – e.g. director, cinematographer, writer, editor) OR a link to a film made by you inspired by one of the following topics: encounters, loneliness, joy (no longer than three minutes).
    • A short Letter of Motivation in which the applicant informs us about their educational background and the reasons for choosing to study Film and Media at our institution.
    • Please include a Statement of Ownership that verifies that all the materials included in the portfolio were created by you alone and write a few words about the works in the portfolio. In the case of collective work, please clearly indicate your personal contribution to the given project(s).
