Programme Introduction

The goal of this program is to provide general training in the field of economics at the bachelor level, with special emphasis on social, political, and international applications. Besides rigorous training in methodology, students will acquire a solid knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of economics, and will be introduced to other social sciences and business studies as well. The program is recommended to applicants who are interested in learning how choices and strategic decisions are made at different (individual, firm, and national) levels in the economy, what kind of social and political forces influence decision-making, and are not afraid of using models, and deductive reasoning to solve problems.

Career opportunities

The general and broad-based character of the program gives students high flexibility in their decisions what to do after graduation. One option is to continue their studies at master’s level. The Faculty of Social Sciences offers several English language programs including International Relations, Cultural Anthropology, Health Policy Planning and Financing, Community and Civil Development Studies, and Ethnic and Minority Policy. If someone wants to make a PhD it is also possible in the Faculty’s Doctoral School of Sociology. Another option is to jump right into the middle of hard work after graduation, in which case a BA diploma of Applied Economics provides them with an excellent entry ticket. Applied economists are always welcome in most areas of the government, public institutions, NGOs, business firms, in culture, sports, or the media.
